Anything we might have neglected to learn from The Cove or Rust and Bone about the inadvisability of using orcas (aka “killer whales”) to entertain crowds of paying customers, this determined advocacy documentary provides in abundance. Using talking-head experts and violent file footage, filmmaker Gabriella Cowperthwaite’s doc follows the deadly career of a bull orca named Tilikum, who has killed at least three humans since being captured and trained to “star” in sea park shows. The conclusion is inescapable: these large, intelligent mammals respond to cruel treatment with a combination of boredom and ferocity. (83 min.)
