Bill Kirchen

When: Fri., Nov. 6, 8 p.m. 2009
Price: $24.50-$25.50

Guitar ace Bill Kirchen moved West in 1969 with Commander Cody and His Lost Planet Airmen, and logged many gigs at EastBay venues such as the Longbranch Saloon. The band's lone top-40 hit, a remake of Johnny Bond's "Hot Rod Lincoln," introduced the world to Kirchen's blistering six-string sting. His work with the Moonlighters, Nick Lowe, Too Much Fun, and others led to a solo career that's burned brightly for fifteen years. He'll be revving up truck-stop favorites on his 1959 Tele on Friday, July 24, at the Freight & Salvage (1111 Addison St., Berkeley). 8 p.m., $18.50, $19.50. 510-548-1761 or
