Re: “Berkeley Bowl Workers Throw Out Union

As an employee who works at the Berkeley Bowl I saw the Union do very little to help the employees, the union steward even refused to help an employee who needed help to resolve a problem, this was done in front of a witness. The union made promises to employees they could not keep, saying "they were working on it". Having people disrupt business at the Bowl, calling people names who were using they're freedom of speech was troubling. Calling Berkeley a Union town is inaccurate, it's more of a freedom to speech town a town where we should support the local business owner and the local people who work there. Mr.Balaz was the one who made the threats, unjustified scare tactics to the employees and their jobs, all because he stands to loose income over the union being voted out, not because he cares about the employees. If the union truly cared why not make it so the employees who don't want to be in the union be able to opt out? Why NOT negotiate? instead of having the union come in, video tape employee's, handing out flyers to employees while working and further instigating a us versus them attitude with management? If the Union really had a great service to sell why use scare tactics? why cause so much stress for the employees? why tell lies to the employees making more problems?
