Big, The Musical

When: Through July 28
Price: $20-$40
Everyone who has seen the 1987 hit film, Big, or honestly, anyone who’s suffered smothery parents, knows the story of 12-year-old Jersey boy Josh Baskin. When Baskin’s wish to be an adult is instantly granted, he encounters as a boy in a 30-year-old adult man’s body a world of trouble — Fancy food! Sex! Jobs! Women! — and so on. Bay Area export and actor Tom Hanks, cavorting on a giant floor piano in the film version, unforgettably lit up silver screens. A musical theater adaptation was inevitable, especially because the malarky winds its way to charming conclusions: some things can’t be rushed, best friends are priceless, true love is timeless. Get ready to be wowed by local youth actors anchored in a cast of seasoned pros.
