It’s rare that a web site manages to capture the true spirit of a business, but the Cheeseboard Collective’s site does just that with its sketch-like animation, hand-drawn in pen and watercolor by the children’s book author and illustrator Ann Arnold, who happens to live around the corner. Arnold’s animation manages to capture the low-tech, neighborly vibe of the iconic cheese shop and pizza place with a quaint re-creation of a typical scene outside it: families chewing on bread, a man sitting and holding a steaming, animated cup of coffee, and a cute tail-wagging dog. Who knew zeroes and ones could be so freaking adorable?
