James Rowland Shop

Usually, we’re scared of used or vintage shoes. Dresses and sweaters? Sure, no problem. But shoes typically can’t hide that aura of someone-stunk-these-up-for-days. That is, until we discovered James Rowland Shop. Having got its start on Etsy (where it still has a store), the business recently opened a small brick-and-mortar boutique near Telegraph Avenue. In addition to carrying a limited but very well-curated selection of vintage (including some designer) clothes, its shoes are drool-worthy. Knee-high boots, ankle booties, granny boots, oxfords, huaraches, sandals, and more — all in very good condition — will leave you with many difficult decisions. We don’t know where the buyers source these gems but they clearly know what they’re doing. Of course, style this discerning doesn’t come cheap. But having a pair of one-of-a-kind shoes that are made better than new cheap imports? That’s priceless.
