Best Summer Outdoor Movie Night

Danville Moonlight Movies

Okay, the marine layer is nice, but when it's time to really experience summer, drive out to Danville for an outdoor movie night — most likely the air temperature will hover at a balmy 80 degrees. Family-friendly films are screened every other weekend June through August on Danville's lovely Town Green: Look for Babe, Jumanji, and Matilda over the next few weeks. Moviegoers bring their own blankets, snacks, and lawn chairs; the show starts at 8:30 p.m. It doesn't hurt that Danville has a long history of being a "livin' is easy" kind of place: Bay Miwok Indians settled next to its creeks and camped on Mount Diablo in the summer until the town was overrun by gold-seekers in the mid-1800s. A summer night outside — with crickets — in small-town California? Ain't nothing like it.
