Best Spa: Be in touch with your inner sloth

Piedmont Springs

Relax. Close your eyes. Imagine you're sitting in an outdoor hot tub with the jets massaging the soles of your feet. After a few minutes of letting the warm waters soften your skin, you rise and glide to the adjacent sauna where the heat further melts all your resistance. You are as still, relaxed, and unproductive as a fifty-year-old unionized French bureaucrat. The latter describes Piedmont Springs' most popular attraction, the combination package with the outdoor tub and sauna access ($20 per hour per person). If you don't need the extra heat, you can always just get a tub ($15 per hour per person; $10 per half-hour), or even do the steam room ($10 per half-hour). The spa also offers a variety of skincare treatments ranging from $30 to $80. Of course, Piedmont Springs employs able massage therapists ready to work out those stress knots. For those in a hurry to relax, the spa offers a thirty-minute massage for $40; an hour is $65 and 75 minutes cost $80. The practitioners employ a variety of styles: Swedish, shiatsu, moderate deep tissue, and reiki (gentle). So go and relax. You may never want to leave.
