.Best Reason to Move Here

Moving here to attend UC Berkeley is a cliché, and — what with a 30,000-member student body, massive classes, and the impersonal mien that comes with hugeness — it has proven, time and again, not to be for everyone. Moving here to be hip — now, that’s another thing, and it’s viable because, as many transplants will declare, even the dullest East Bay café has it all over its counterparts in, say, Irvine or Stanislaus. But all the reasons (moving here to emulate Jack Kerouac, or for the coffee, or the record stores) pale in comparison to moving here for love: for having met someone and settling in with her, or him. That’s the best reason to move anywhere, even Antarctica, but the yoga classes are better here.
