Best Place to Buy Stylish Glasses

Phoenix Optical

Between the sheer number of options, the recent proliferation of bargain-basement, often low-quality e-retailers, and the sheer stress of plunking down a chunk of change for something that goes on your face every day, eyeglass-shopping can be a headache-inducing experience (sometimes literally!). But not at Phoenix Optical, which offers a wide — but not too wide — selection of vintage and contemporary frames, available in far more colors, materials, and finishes than most other brick-and-mortar frame shops, and of much higher quality than those cheapo online retailers. Phoenix can do this because the century-old company is vertically integrated — meaning the frames are made in Phoenix's French factory, and the lenses are made in-house, keeping prices relatively low for the quality, and customization options high. All told, each of the company's stores (the chainlet also has two outposts in the West Bay) offers some 3,000 frame options, and some of the largest selections of vintage frames in the world — but never fear, the delightfully real-talk-y, impossibly tasteful staff are happy to point you in the right direction, and, perhaps more importantly, tell you when you've gone astray.
