Best Head Shop: Boasting a bountiful bong supply

The street people, homeless puppies, and junkie teenagers come and go on Telegraph Avenue, but one thing always remains the same: Annapurna, the area's historic head shop. As soon as you walk in you're bombarded by a sweet aroma, a fragrant whiff of, uh, incense. Lots and lots of incense. Of course, you'll need to buy incense to cover up the smell of, uh, tobacco in your room after you smoke a few bongloads. Speaking of which, there are plenty of bongs here to choose from. The more extravagant can go for more than $100, but they generally average $20 to $40. The $20 variety -- an old-school translucent deal -- gets the job done just fine. Pipes, meanwhile, range from $4 to $9.50, and of course there are papers if you prefer to roll your own. The store carries two different kinds of vaporizers ($70 and $130) -- these are the trendy contraptions that let you catch a smoke-free buzz. Then there are these cool stash holders that look like cans of legal household products like a Diet 7-Up can ($16), WD-40 can ($30), or Pringles ($30). That's not to mention the usual head-shop oddities like the Einstein and Moses action figures ($10 to $13). But let's face it -- we don't go to a head shop for action figures. We go for the ... wait, dude, what was I talking about again?
