.Best Fixie Bike Shop for Non-Fixies

Manifesto Bicycles

Manifesto Bicycles is not the East Bay’s best fixie shop because it sells the hippest bikes or constructs the most creative conversions or attracts the coolest kids as customers. No, it’s the best fixie shop because its employees will replace the slipping chain ring on your beat-up 1976 Schwinn Cruiser, because they’ll install a new derailleur and brakes on your (gasp!) ten-speed road bike, and because they’ll do it (most of the time, at least) with a smile and for a surprisingly good price. One thing the bike community would do without is snobbery, and while Manifesto’s small storefront is surely spic-and-span — and the shiny new minimalist bikes hanging from its walls sufficiently glamorous to suggest a price bracket perhaps out of reach — the shop is certainly not reserved for any rarefied audience. Peddlers of all persuasions can find a home in this unique fixie-fixated shop.
