Best Desserts: Decadent uses for whipped cream

Pearl Oyster Bar and Restaurant

Some people dream of naked bodies. Some dream of naked bodies and whipped cream. We get the whipped cream part, but for us it's usually on the perfect triangle of cheesecake curd made of Meyer lemons and sprinkled with a cheery blue huckleberry sauce. Nah, we're not talking about some kink palace that your mother doesn't want to know about. We're talking about Pearl, where you can take a first date and make sure you'll get a second. Sure, we dig the raw bar, the Thai fusion seafood, and cool back lighting behind the bar. But we beg of you: Don't skip the dessert. You have a choice of five. Start with the abovementioned Meyer lemon cheesecake. The texture is so perfect it makes you want to just bathe in it ... but we digress. The ginger chocolate bread pudding layered with chocolate Génoise, Earl Grey, butterscotch and vanilla gelato is the perfect mélange of flavors and textures. Some of the desserts come in martini glasses and contain things like Tahitian vanilla gelati or ginger pepper tuile. If you have a Weight Watchers card, you'll want to make sure you leave home without it.
