Best Ambiance at a Bike Store

Sharp Bicycles

Face it — a bike store crammed with toned riders and their skinny bikes can be intimidating for the "Wow, I like to bike" types. But the charming guys at Sharp Bikes make you feel just as important as those century riders who think Mount Tam is a lark and know all the terminology you don't. There's none of the "woman at the hardware store" sputtering here; they listen and encourage you, let you take a spin on their bikes, and, if you're in a hurry and they're not backed up, they'll put a bike together lickety-split. They treat you the same whether you're pedaling a $500 hybrid or a carbon jewel that cost as much as last year's rent. And, despite being situated in an affluent 'burb, they don't try to overwhelm you with accessories, either. They're so accommodating, in fact, that if your bike breaks down — and you're not handy with a tool kit — they may come to the rescue.
