Berkeley Restaurant Week Staff Pick

When: Jan. 18-28 2018
Now in its sixth year, Berkeley Restaurant Week celebrates the city’s dining scene with special, prix-fixe menus for 10 days. Many of the participating 30-plus restaurants are on the more upscale end of the spectrum, but the cuisine options are fairly diverse, including Korean, Middle Eastern, French, Italian, Spanish, and Japanese. Across the board, lunch menus are $20, dinners cost $25 or $35, and making reservations is highly recommended. Some deals are inevitably a better value than others, but we particularly recommend checking out Lucia’s (2016 Shattuck Ave.), where you can feast on Neapolitan pizza, a starter, and dessert for $25; La Marcha Tapas Bar (2026 San Pablo Ave.), which is offering a 10-course feast for $25; and Donato & Co. (2635 Ashby Ave.) for a $20 steal of a three-course lunch featuring risotto. Vegan and gluten-free eaters should look to Sanctuary Bistro (1019 Camelia St.), which is offering a $35, three-course dinner starring a spin on boeuf bourguignon.
