San Francisco Opera's The Little Prince, coproduced with Cal Performances, may not be the only operatic children's fantasy in town, but it is the only production where children won't be scared out of their wits. That's because Berkeley Opera, which is also thinking childish delight, pairs Ravel's delightful one-act fantasy, "L'enfant et les sortilèges," with Bartók's extremely unsettling, hardly-for-children "Bluebeard's Castle." Naomie Kremer's video backdrop for "Bluebeard," combined with an equally innovative mixture of Ariel's design and Jeremy Knight's puppetry, dance, and digital animation for "L'enfant," should make for a very special operatic experience. At Julia Morgan Center for the Arts (2640 College Ave., Berkeley) on Friday, May 9 at 8 p.m., and Sunday, May 11 at 2 p.m. $44, $16 for children under seventeen, $22 senior rush, and $10 student rush. or 925-798-1300.
