BBQ Without Borders One Day Only Staff Pick

When: Sat., Oct. 5, 5-9 p.m. 2019
Price: $15-$90
This cross-cultural barbecue, hosted by New American Economy and No Immigrants No Spice, celebrates the contributions that immigrants make to American food, music, dance, film, and more. Enjoy barbecue from three different countries — Mexican barbecue from Ofelia Barajas and Reyna Maldonado of La Guerrera’s Kitchen, Northern Iranian barbecue from Hanif Sadr of Komaaj, and Indian barbecue from Siska Silitonga Marcus of Chilicali. For dessert, Priti Narayan of Koolfi Creamery will be scooping her renowned Indian-inspired ice cream. Check out the art installations and film screenings, watch Balinese, bhangra, flamenco, and street dance performances, and jam out to a variety of music performances including Indian classical music and Cuban salsa. Proceeds benefit the National Immigrant Justice Center and Pangea Legal Services, which provide legal aid and advocacy for immigrants. Purchase tickets on Eventbrite.
