Bay Area International Children's Film Festival

When: Jan. 28-29, 10 a.m. 2012
Price: $10-$20

You don't have to be a kid to appreciate the Bay Area International Children's Film Festival, though it probably wouldn't hurt. In addition to screenings of 32 family-friendly independent films and shorts from around the world, the two-day fest now in its sixth year features animation and other film-themed workshops (led by Pixar animator Jim Capobianco) for kids ages six to fourteen. Be sure to catch Crin-Blanc (1952), a French film about a young boy and his unlikely friendship with a wild stallion, and Circus Dreams, a documentary about a traveling youth circus. At the Art Deco Theater (2700 Saratoga St., Alameda) on Saturday and Sunday, Jan. 28-29. 10 a.m., $10-$20.
