Drama
Tough times in the poor Mississippi Delta for a trio of contemporary African Americans — a lonely man mourning his dead brother, the brother’s former woman, and her son, a junior crack dealer. Debut writer-producer-editor-director Lance Hammer’s characters are better than his screenplay, if such a thing is possible (they’re played by non-professionals). Their melodramatic scrapes detract from the film’s documentary-style naturalism. We care about them and wish they’d found a less self-conscious movie to live in. With Micheal J. Smith Sr., Tarra Riggs, and JimMyron Ross as James (96 min.).
Director: Lance Hammer
