With an electric-blue frightwig and a sunny disposition, Bakesale Betty (aka Alison Barakat, a Chez Panisse alum) bakes up perfect ginger cookies, Australian sticky date pudding capable of inducing ecstatic sugar-shock, and what may be the tenderest scones on the planet. Slaw-blanketed fried chicken sandwiches are the stuff of neighborhood legend.
