In a not-too-distant future that badly needs a paint job, mercenary Vin Diesel agrees to cross the melting polar ice cap and deliver an annoying religious novitiate (Melanie Thierry) from a disintegrating Europe to a decadent, Blade Runner-esque New York. En route he learns that she's pregnant with genetically tweaked superbabies who represent the next phase in human evolution. Director Mathieu Kassovitz denounced his own picture as "purely stupid and violent," though the violence is pretty weak tea. A must-see only for fans of snowmobile chases. With Gerard Depardieu and Charlotte Rampling (90 min.).
