Trap-rapper 21 Savage is headlining his own 25-city tour and making his only Bay Area stop at the Warfield this week. He’ll be accompanied by New York’s Young M.A. (“Ooouuu”), as well as Tee Grizzley (likely to headline his own tour soon, as well), and Young Nudy. There’s controversy over 21 Savage’s music, particularly his lyrics about murder, gangs, and the sort. But the rapper’s production and style are leading the way in trap music. While newer fans will await songs off his last release, Savage Mode, some of us will be looking forward to the chance of seeing him perform throwbacks like “Wow” and “Front Door.” It will be one hell-of-a-show — but let’s not promote violence, come in peace.
