Athena Kashyap and Arisa White

When: Thu., April 26, 7:30 p.m. 2012

It's National Poetry Month, and at Moe's Books (2476 Telegraph Ave, Berkeley) on Thursday, Apr. 26, that means a chance to witness poets presenting their first books. Athena Kashyap reads from Crossing Black Waters, which navigates Indian history and the immigrant experience; and Arisa White, a native New Yorker now living in Oakland, presents Hurrah's Nest, which draws from her life growing up in Brooklyn with seven siblings and one parent. Both readings should be sublime. 7 p.m., free. 510-849-2133 or
