Around the Bay in Music: SXSW Wrapping Up, Dance Music Fans to Rally City Hall

1. Seem like everyone’s at SXSW but you? That’s okay, the six-day music extravaganza is almost wrapping up. Apparently, the Foo Fighters made a surprise performance, reports the Mercury News’ Jim Harrington. And The Bay Bridged has some nifty photos of a performance at a church.

2. The Bay Citizen via the NYT features some Bay Area musicians who are creating their own new musical devices, like Paul Dresher of West Oakland.

3. 924 Gilman’s site is still down. :-(

4. The Chron’s Off the Record highlights South Bay experimental thrash band Godstomper, which plays tonight at The Swamp, 877 35th St., West Oakland.

5. Dance music fans will rally San Francisco City Hall on Tuesday, March 22, in an effort to save dance events from being forever banished from the city. Click here for more info.
