A flesh-and-blood link to folk music's populist roots, Arlo Guthrie has been carrying on the legacy of his late, legendary father Woody ever since Guthrie the younger strapped on a guitar way back in 1961. While daughter Sara Lee and husband Johnny Irion are furthering this tradition another generation, the man who wrote the cultural touchstone "Alice's Restaurant" hasn't slowed down either -- be it in making music (last year's In Times Like These) or being socially conscientious (his not-for-profit Guthrie Foundation addresses issues such as the environment, health care, cultural preservation, and educational exchange). Expect plenty of wisecracks from the jovial Guthrie as he brings his "Solo Reunion Tour: Together At Last" to town on Thursday, April 10atZellerbach Hall (UC Berkeley, Berkeley). 8 p.m., $24-$52.
