Ardenwood Rail Fair

When: Sept. 3-5, 10 a.m.-4 p.m. 2011
Price: $5-$8

All aboard, train lovers, your iron horse has arrived. The Ardenwood Rail Fair, organized by the East Bay Regional Parks District and the railroad museum at Ardenwood Historic Farm, promises three days of train-filled fun and attractions. Take a ride on a steam train, try your hand at a handcar, and feast your eyes on model railroads, old-fashioned gas engines, and one of the eleventh-annual fair's main attractions -- an 1889 Porter tank steam locomotive. At Ardenwood Historic Farm (34600 Ardenwood Blvd., Fremont) on Saturday through Monday, Sept. 3-5. 10 a.m.-4 p.m., $5-$8. 888-327-2757 or EBParks.org/node/1548
