Re: “The Case Against Chevron

I want to thank Peter Asmus and the East Bay Express for this thorough and important story on the Chevron organizing campaigns. I hope that readers enjoy it and are inspired by it to take action in support of communities all across the Bay Area, the nation and the world in struggle against Chevron and the entire oil industry.

I'd like, however, to make one very important correction to this story. While I am flattered to be featured (and who wouldn't like being called a firecracker?), I am most certainly not the brainchild of this incredible and unprecedented organizing effort, nor is Global Exchange. Both Global Exchange and I were drawn to the Chevron organizing precisely because an organizing movement around the company had already developed and had been growing by uniting communities all across the world for years. We have been proud to be a part of this movement and are eager to play our role in helping to better grow it, make it stronger, and bring in new allies. But we most certainly did not "create it" and we do not lead it now.

We are helping, with our allies, to unite communities all across the world to expose the true cost of Chevron and reign in the entire oil industry. Will you join us?
