Re: “Party 2 Nite. R U Going?

I go to berkeley high and i was at both of the parties mentioned here (blakes and "sarah's"). I just wanted to say that I think this article innaccuratly portrays BHS party life.
Yes, parties often do get out of hand and shut down by the police. However, this article does not reflect the reality of the situation. Most teens are more responsible than those quoted in this article. The author did not do a good job in concealing their identities, so I can say that I know who was speaking personally and I recognize their motives for saying what they did. Much of their depictions of "typical" Berkeley High parties were exagerations. Parties tend to be much safer, as long as kids are smarter and more responsible.
I think that the authour should have done a much better job in protecting their identities. When other kids also discover who they are, they will probably be embarrassed. I doubt that any of them liked what was printed because they probably did not believe it would all be exposed to the public.
And I can also identify each teenager in the photographs from Blakes.
Anyway, this article was poorly written and inaccurate, and I hope that readers do not get a false impression of what parties are like. Just because we are teenagers living in a world of modern technology does not mean that we are all irresponsible or do not understand the real dangers of partying. And I'm sure anyone reading this could say that they had peers in high school who would have loved to eggagerate a situation if they thought it would get them attention and make them seem more popular.
