Re: “Ivy Room Re-Opening

I regret the transition myself. I was a regular at the Thursday evening hiphop nights and had been there for other events and used to just stop by now and then. The only thing this Ivy Room has in common with the previous Ivy Room is the name. I can't believe they don't have anything on tap! And the new interior looks cold and sterile. The old one had more character. I guess that just reflects the change in clientele that's going to happen (or, at least, already seemed to have happened when I was there). The old place was definitely more of your old-fashioned neighborhood bar and meeting place. In anycase, I'm going to say (with the disclaimer that I am biased against the new place) that I don't think this new place is going to last. People trying to go to this kind of 'swanky lounge' usually like to go to the City or somewhere like that. Hopefully, I'm not wrong and the neighborhood's incompatibility with this place will swallow it up... In the meantime, I seriously hope they change the name of this place. I've already promised myself to not go back there again. RIP the real Ivy Room! It used to be something I could call "my bar, our bar"
