Everything you ought to know about Anita Hill, the law professor whose 1991 testimony on her untoward workplace experiences with soon-to-be Supreme Court justice Clarence Thomas – then up for confirmation – made her a rallying point for women protesting gender inequality and a target for rightwing ideologues. Freida Mock’s meticulous, ultimately encouraging documentary alternates period footage of Hill’s Senate grilling with interviews with the woman herself (now a Brandeis University prof) and her admirers, including reporters Jill Abramson and Jane Meyer. The idea is that Hill dared to speak truth to power, and power won. For now (77 min.).
