American Bach Soloists

When: Sat., April 19, 8 p.m. 2008
Price: $10-$42

A key reason to attend American Bach Soloists this Saturday, April 19, is to hear countertenor Ian Howell. Formerly of Chanticleer, Howell recently took first prize at the American Bach Soloists International Solo Competition with a performance of the same work he will reprise on Saturday: Bach's cantata, "VergnüteRuh, beliebteSeelenlust." The program, much of which will be issued on ABS's next CD, also includes D. Scarlatti's "Salve Regina," arias from opera and oratorio by Handel, Handel's Sonata in C Minor, and Avison's Concerto Grosso No. 12 in D major. At First Congregational Church (2345 Channing Wy., Berkeley). 8 p.m., $16-$42 general, $10 student/senior advance, $5 student rush.AmericanBach.org or 415-621-7900.
