Re: “Oakland Mayor Libby Schaaf Defends Record Against Five Challengers

So if an Oakland resident with Democratic leanings is inclined to vote, their choice is Brooks, Price or Schaaf. Not very inspiring, I can understand why the resident would prefer to stay in and watch Netflix.
Let's see what the Republican candidates can do to inspire some fire in their potential voters.

Re: “County Tax Measure Would Fund Child Care

I'd prefer a sales tax to a parcel tax, that way all the people who vote on the tax get to pay it. Instead of the usual scam where all the residents in Oakland vote on a parcel tax but only the property owners have to pay it.

Re: “Oakland Police: Leaked Body Camera Footage of Recent BART Police Shooting Jeopardized Investigation

If the OPD allowed the members of the family to view the video inside police headquarters, how did the members of the family leak the video. Was someone stupid enough to give them a copy of the video file ?

Re: “The Warriors' Empty Gesture

Where are the terms of the contact posted ? Are they documented on some Oakland website so that we lay people can read the terms of the contract and try to work out why both parties to the disagreement believe they have a case to support their position ?

Re: “No-Bid $300,000 Contract for Oakland's Department of Violence Prevention Consultant Put on Hold

With the city council's poor record on contract negotiation it would be prudent to share the contract with the full city council to ensure that all members are comfortable with the terms of the contract before it is put forward.

Re: “Town Business: Oakland Police 911 Comms Center Is Still Understaff and Still Doesn't Answer Calls in Time

Now this story is getting interesting, if I understand the city minutes on this subject, posted here ..
https://oakland.legistar.com/LegislationDe…|Text|Attachments|&Search=911+chp

Oakland city council accepted $163,470 + $16,530 from CalOES to purchase and install the GIS mapping equipment. But if they accepted the money from CalOES, and yet the calls from cell phones are still being routed via the CHP, where did the money for the equipment go ?
Surely the city auditor would be able to share this insight.

Re: “Town Business: Oakland Police 911 Comms Center Is Still Understaff and Still Doesn't Answer Calls in Time

In this day and age of telecommunications there is no excuse for routing 911 calls from cell phones to another city
