AileyCamp 2015 Performance

When: Thu., July 30, 7 p.m. 2015
Price: Free
Talented middle-schoolers from the Berkeley, Oakland, Richmond, and Albany unified school districts will be showing off their dance moves in a free performance at Zellerbach Hall (101 Zellerbach Hall #4800, Berkeley) on July 30 at 7 p.m. The students are the stars of One Person at a Time, a themed performance piece exploring how gracious, considerate interactions with “one person at a time” can lead to stronger communities. Since late June, the young performers have been training and studying for the show at AileyCamp, a tuition-free summer program run by the esteemed Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater Company in conjunction with Cal Performances. At the camp, the students learned techniques associated with African, jazz, ballet, and modern dance — all styles that will be incorporated into this one-time-only performance.
