Re: “Dental Damnation

Hello Will,

I would just like to comment on your article regarding Dr. Donald DeBerry.

Firstly, it is completely legal to have an office within your own residence. Although it may not look like a billion dollar office, he does comply with the proper medical procedures, sanitary codes, and appropriate waste management that is mandatory for all health offices. It's a legal office.

Secondly, I understand the demand for 5 billion dollars and allegations of a terrorist attack may seem completely absurd. However, you shouldn't always be so quick to judge from what you hear from peeking neighbors and the media looking for an eye-catching story. Those letters were written by his mentally ill wife. She began developing signs of Hunnington's disease for the past twenty years now, and her condition appeared to get worse and worse. It's a shame that he didn't lock his wife of 30+ years in the looney bin sooner so she wouldn't scare off his patients. (note the sarcasm)

It is a shame however that patients had to witness her "crazy" ways and report back condemning his whole practice. It is a shame that his office doesn't look like a million dollar office because he spends most of his earnings on paying for medical bills for Charlotte and keeping her in a prestigious nursing home that caters to her specific disease. It is a shame that he is such a kind man, who will gladly sit down and talk to you and explain the procedures he will be doing and why, and may i add, who is a fantastic and well-qualified dentist, gets such a bad rep because of huge misunderstandings and pitfalls he has experienced in his life.... Give him a break. Don't judge a good guy and his office until you know your facts and/or actually met him.

Oh, one more thing... he doesn't have cataracts anymore, and he reorganized his house as much as he can with the limited funds he uses for himself.

I don't know if you are planning on posting comments, but I would greatly appreciate it if you did! He really is a qualified dentist whose name doesn't deserve to be beat down. Thanks!
