Agggg! Black Oak Books May Close!

Today's Berkeley Daily Planet reports that the owners of Black Oak Books, the adorable, musty, invaluable North Berkeley bookstore, are looking for someone to buy them out. If no deal goes through, they could close the store as early as this summer. Even if the store manages to survive, author readings will almost certainly be discontinued. Store owners blame the same problems that have afflicted independent bookstores around the country: chains and the Internet.
