After Carnaval Get Down with The Latin Soul Brothers

When: Sun., May 27, 4-9 p.m. 2012
Price: free

Donna Summer may have passed away, but there's no question that disco weather has finally set in, and hopefully it will supplant the coastal fog -- for a while, at least. This week, San Francisco celebrates Carnaval with a fabulously colorful parade, featuring samba dancers, ballet folklórico, reggae artists, danzaazteca, and bomberos. As always, a slew of after-parties will follow. We recommend the one hosted by DJ Joe Quixx and notable freestyler WonwayPosibul, two members of arts collective The Latin Soul Brothers. They promise a mix of samba, salsa, funk, reggae, batacuda, bossa nova, house, Afrobeat, tropicalia, dancehall, hip-hop, and pretty much any other genre that's available on wax -- hopefully including disco. If the Brothers are true to their word, then it might be a more varied soundtrack than you'll hear at the Carnaval Parade itself. The party goes down at Som Bar (2925 16th St., San Francisco) on Sunday, May 27. 4-9 p.m., free. Som-Bar.com
