Abolition Feminisms with Angela Davis

When: Mon., April 16, 6:30 p.m. 2018
Price: free
Renowned civil rights activist and feminist theorist Angela Davis has written nearly a dozen books over the years, and has lectured across the United States as well as internationally. From her counterculture activism in the 1960s to her current position as a professor emerita at UC Santa Cruz, she has contributed extensively to discussions of race, women, class, and incarceration. (She popularized the idea of the “prison industrial complex.”) Her talk at BAMPFA is part of Arts + Design Mondays, a public lecture series with the theme this year of Public (Re)Assembly. Tickets are sold out, but due to the extreme popularity of the event, a livestream will be available. For those who wish to watch the talk with community members, there will be several on- and off-campus locations where you can do so.
