Re: “Cuts and Dueling Protests at KPFA

Brian Edwards-Tiekert and his allies, who are the people who control the union at KPFA. would be more than willing to terminate Flashpoints, the one show on KPFA that tells what's really going on in places like Palestine and Haiti, and therefore really antagonizes the Zionists and liberal Democrats. They don't give a damn about the rights of union members who are not part of their faction.

Edwards-Tiekert and Mitch Jeserich should have been fired at the end of September, when they used their airtime -- during the Local Station Board election -- to attack Tracy Rosenberg and Shahram Aghamir, National Board members from KPFA who are leaders of the Independents for Community Radio, the main group opposed to the entrenched staff faction led by Edwards-Tiekert,

Incidentally, the process by which E.-T. and Allison were hired to do the Morning Show and Mitch Jeserich to do his Letters from Washington was a lot more arbitrary and political than the firings of the first two and what should have been the firing of the third. The decisions were made by interim Program Director Sasha Lilley and interim General Manager Lem Lem Rijio, part of the clique that E.-T., Allison and Jeserich are also part of -- the clique that controls the union, controls station management, and has a narrow majority again on the Local Station Board.

By the way, they presented a "balanced budget" that was "balanced" by optimistic revenue projections and financial demands on Pacifica that the Pacifica National Board reasonably refused to accept.
