He studied photography before enlisting in the US Navy during World War II. After the war, he became a freelancer for Life, Ebony,and other venues. A two-time Guggenheim fellow, Wayne Miller assisted Edward Steichen on the historic Family of Man exhibition, which became a bestselling book, and created a book of his own: The World Is Young. Miller discusses his career in the North Gate Hall Library(Hearst and Euclid avenues) on the UC Berkeley campus on Thursday, Jan. 22. 7 p.m. Journalism.Berkeley.edu
