A Christmas Memory

When: Mon., Dec. 15, 6:30-7:30 p.m. 2008
Price: free

When he was a boy, Truman Capote's favorite cousin and closest companion was an eccentric elderly lady. One of the most charming holiday tales in American literature, Capote's short story "A Christmas Memory" details the time he spent with Cousin Sook, preparing fruitcakes as part of an annual ritual. At the Oakland Library's Piedmont Branch (160 41st St., Oakland), local actor Thomas Lynch performs a dramatic reading of the tale on Monday, Dec. 15. 6:30 p.m.
