This statement:"as well as made campaign contributions to the mayor's re-election campaign" is false - a lie.

I did help my client form an LLC and work with the city to become a licensed, safe, tax-paying business, and they paid me money for my services. I am proud of this win-win for my client and the city. As a real estate and land use attorney, that is what I do. The LLC that was formed did not make any political contributions or payments to anyone.

Eli Hudson = Eli Moore?

We had this conversation in the comments on that article in November 2017. It makes this clear this article was a poor attempt at political retaliation and a hit piece: obviously, you have been digging for nearly a year to find something, but all that is there is a story of law-abiding, city-and-public-safety benefiting, tax-paying business.

The good news is that in both cases the end result was code compliance and payment of fees and taxes duly owed to the City of Richmond.

Thank you for commenting on this article. I have one update and one question for you.

Update: Moore and Jimenez have done their due diligence and as of now they have paid the fire inspectors fee, have a business license, registered with the rent control office, and with the rental inspection program, and have paid those fees as well.

Question: Will we be seeing an email blast from your dad focusing on your giant marijuana grow house on Hensley? (Ill withhold the exact address since its a giant building with a lot of very valuable product.) Its been red-tagged for some time now, yet it is still in operation everyday. For someone who enjoys shining light on hypocrisy, both of you must understand why people in Richmond would want to know if this building and its operations are and have been operating in a lawful way.

I am a real estate and land use attorney, and run a small business in Richmond. I have no marijuana grow operations in Richmond nor anywhere else, nor do I have any investment in any though I am fully supportive of their legalization.

But thats only if facts matter.

The CCC Board of Supervisors has already voted to legalize cannabis in unincorporated North Richmond. If it does in fact get annexed (which I support) it will already have provisions and zoning for legal cannabis cultivation and dispensaries, with cheaper fees and lower taxes than Richmond.

Mr. Gammon: Costa-Hawkins exempts units constructed after 1995, not 1983.

Oakland's own rent control ordinance sets 1983 as the cut-off date (Art. 1, sec. 8.22.030(A)(5)), and not Costa-Hawkins. San Francisco has a similar built-in date to their ordinance (1979). Like Costa-Hawkins, both were set at the time the laws were respectively passed - and Costa-Hawkins was modeled on this.
