See Robbie in the 3-star gem 'Carny', which also features a young Jodie Foster and Gary Busey ..

Re: “The Perils of Pauline

Movie-going was central to my life, until the old UC Theater closed in 2001 because seismic retrofitting was too costly. I'd mark up my new calendar, which formed the basis for social behavior for three months. Since, I'll pop for a flick or two a year, usually viewed in one of those economy-class rooms downtown; it just ain't the same ..

Re: “Fires, Refugees, Traffic, Gentrification ... So Why Isn't Anyone Talking About Population?

I did a rough calculation recently: World population divided into ALL land area. I came up with 100 per square mile. (Do your own figures, for fun.)
Just conceive--everywhere you (might) go (if you could, but you must stay put), we're there. I'd say we're pretty thick, and getting thicker ..

Re: “Rainbow Flag Flap Unfurls Across East Bay

There is a long-overlooked issue with flag display, whether outside public buildings or from other flagpoles: Official flags are often flown where they have no real relevance. In Dublin's case, the city flag is dreadful, so a bit more colorful relief is sought. As with the Emeryville case, the national and state flags are flown to remind us of something or other, but city halls are municipal structures, and official flags should announce this clearly. Instead, we have patriotic and Golden State overkill ..
