Re: “Mapping History with Long Lost Oakland

The name Key System should be capitalized, since it was the colloquial name by which the company was known. Its trains did not cover the entire East Bay, as claimed. They served Alameda, Berkeley, Oakland, and Piedmont (and the northernmost blocks of Dutton Avenue in San Leandro from 1941-1958).

One streetcar line operated by East Bay Street Railways ran out East 14th to Hayward and San Lorenzo. The area between Hayward and San Jose had no such rail transit service. The East Shore & Suburban Railway operated streetcar lines in Richmond. But these were local lines which did not offer transbay train service.

Re: “Oakland's Poorest Neighborhoods Will Be The Most Susceptible to Flooding Due To Climate Change And Sea-Level Rise

Jean, here in the East Bay we don't say "the 880" and "the 580." That's so L.A.

Kelly, it's well-known that the Wilsons grew up in Hawthorne (not Inglewood).

Re: “Letters for Week of May 13, 2015

Gary Patton's statement that the only multiple-family housing at San Leandro BART is for seniors is incorrect. The publicity for this complex has always emphasized that it includes family housing without age restrictions.

Re: “Keep Mutating

It's stated that he joined Chrome "more than forty years ago." Yet if he joined after 1976's "The Visitation," that was 38 years back.
Also, it's claimed that the DKs' debut LP of 1980 was "arguably the first Bay Area punk record." This ignores and slights the 1976 single by Crime, the 1977 EP by The Avengers, the 1978 EP by The Readymades, etc.
