Re: “Oakland Cops Quietly Acquired Social Media Surveillance Tool

Easily converted to political/economic purposes. This is a very bad precedent. You have to get a warrant to monitor phones or tap homes for a reason.

Re: “Damning California's Future

By contrast, according to an analysis by the California
Department of Water Resources, water-saving techniques — such as wastewater reuse, stormwater capture, and groundwater cleanup — have yielded the state nearly 2 million acre-feet of water per year at the far lower cost of $5.13 billion.

Re: “A Barrier to Proposition 1?

All forms of water conservation & storage should be used. We should be having not only big storage but every city should be capturing rain water and storing it at the municipal level as well. We lose most water down the drain because we don't capture & store it.

Conservation & other methods should also be used but have limits. As a practical matter, the majority of the population are too lazy, stupid or stubborn to ever conserve enough to solve the problem alone.

Re: “The Poison Pill of Proposition 46?

So much focus on the drug testing. I oppose that part, but support the other 2 parts. Maybe if Drs had voluntarily signed on for CURES long ago, the voters wouldn't be forced to accept drug testing them as the price to get that done.

I think raising the cap & implementing CURES is worth pissing off the Drs.

Re: “Some Basic Weed Warnings

1. These patient-specific heart conditions would warrant pause for most activities or substances including alcohol, exercise, sex, fatty food, etc. Pot would be one of dozens of things that would warrant Dr consultation before usage for those with that risk. But for those without it, the risk is negligible. Same is true for psychosis; individual special-case patients may be at risk but for average Joe it's a minimal if not a non-existent risk.

2. Impaired judgment & not combining with alcohol is just common sense for all medications. You dont even mix Rx meds with alcohol, so this is nothing specific to pot. This like saying they found that pot might impair driving = DUH!

These findings do not show that pot, independent of any other variables, is either excessively unhealthy or lethal.

After 40+ years of massive national pot smoking where are all the cancer patients & heart attack victims, etc that can be verified that were cause only by pot? You know if they existed the GOP crowd would be parading them down Main Street. They dont exist.

They keep finding the opposite; that it kills cancer cells and that it has a myriad of great medical usages. In moderation & in consultation regarding individual health conditions, it is at worst a neutral ingestion & at best literally health food.

Re: “Jerry Brown's Assault on Transparency

Requiring the local govts to pay for their own PRAs is not "gutting the CPRA." It's fair to require the locals to pay for their own costs.
