Re: “Richmond at a Crossroads

I agree with Janis. Along with several other cities in the East Bay, Richmond has long been the black sheep of the Bay Area. Living here, I see a very different side of it than is usually portrayed in the news. We've lived in our current home for 30 years, in Richmond itself for nearly 34 years, and never seriously considered leaving.

John Geluardi and East Bay Express, you've hit a home run!!

Re: “Richmond Mayor and Sons Profiting from Cannabis Compliance Push

Im not quite sure why you have said that Mayor Butt and his sons are profiting by this, or why you state that they are found anything illegal. None of them are able to give permits, deny them, or allow illegal businesses in the city.

I find it interesting that youve decided to publish this hit piece less than 2 months before the election. I believe, however, that my fellow residents in Richmond are smart enough to know when something smells like a rat, and this article reeks.

Re: “Enviros Battle Developers Over Richmond Hills Open Space

Building there would certainly not change the difficulty people are having with finding affordable housing. They're planning on building very low density housing, with an average of .75 acre for each home (300 homes, 224 acres). Homes with that much land would certainly cost more to purchase. And the homes up there already cost at least $575,000. These are going to provide housing for people who are making a lot of money. For example, if you are lucky enough to find a place for $550 (and it's already next to impossible to do that), and you can put down $100,000 in cash, you will need to make over 100,000 a year to qualify for a mortgage.

I home the property owners aren't suggesting that this will help lower income people buy a home.

Re: “Vote With Us! The East Bay Express' Endorsements for Election Day 2016

Hmmm . . . in the description of this article, you claim to give your endorsements for many communities, including Richmond. Yet not one Richmond issue is represented; in fact, the entire Contra Costa County has been completely ignored. East Bay Express? Maybe you should change the name to East Bay Elitists, because that is how you behave.

Re: “Most Reasonable Veterinary Services

I can't believe I've never posted here about Brent before. I don't even know what to say. He's nice, he's knowledgeable, his prices are reasonable, my pets love him, I love him. He's not just our vet. He's a wonderful friend. I really love this man. He's been our vet for over 30 years, and I've never once thought of going elsewhere. He has a six week waiting period for new clients, but once you're in, you're in - and can get him within a couple of days. Did I say yet that I love this man?

Re: “Victim Reaches Out to Troubled Man Who Shot Her at Local Park

What a wonderful ending to what could have been a tragedy. It seems everyone is always looking for justice, for revenge. I'm grateful that there are still people who think that every life is worth trying to save. Mr. Geluardi, thank you for an excellently written article, and Ms. Pansarasa, thank you for being an angel for a young man who definitely needs one.

Re: “Richmond Rethinks Hasty Decision About Troubled Housing Complex

Thanks for putting the time into researching this and letting us know the real story of what is going on. I only wish the CIR had been more interested in honesty than in stirring things up.
