Re: “Oakland City Hall Revokes Occupy Oakland Teepee Permit

This has gone beyond the ridiculous. The City and police have micro-managed to the point of strangulation any semblance of individual rights, in the name of fear and harassment. Seriously? If I go sit at the Plaza and give a hamburger to a homeless person, I need ...a permit? What's next, demanding permits for toilet paper? Oh wait, the large umbrella on the ground was declared 'a structure' - and also illegal.

Not happy with just this level of micromanagement, Oakland revived a new arrest charge from a 1930's law: Lynching. If you try to help someone the cops have, or reach for them, you are arrested and charged with 'Lynching.' What a disgusting perversion of what that law originally battled: murder.

The genius of Occupy is that it is highlighting the absolute and contemptible fascist control of what used to be basic human rights. Our Founding Fathers are rolling in their graves at what elected officials and "authorities' have done to this country; a land they intended to be largely liberty-based and lauding the autonomy of the individual. Shame, shame, shame. I hope citizens everywhere, but especially in Oakland, with a notoriously awful police dept STILL under a federal judges sanction and watch - 8 years later - for criminal activities, abuses of power and even murder -are seeing exactly how contemptuous their governing bodies are.

FYI: the more ridiculous and contemptible you get, the more often the cops abuse the law, the more we're getting the message that you are not to be respected, let alone obeyed. Keep squeezing guys. YOU are the new terrorists, trying to control a citizenry through fear, intimidation, harassment and arrests. YOU are the anti-Americans.
