Re: “Oakland Citizen’s Group Is Misguided In Its Attempt to Intervene in OPD Case

Reading these comments makes me truly scared for our nation. First, "That’s how democracy is supposed to work." We are not a democracy. Those that think so have never read our Constitution, and never read California's constitution. We are not a democracy, have never BEEN a democracy, and hopefully will never be a democracy.

Next, they are not elected "Leaders," they are not elected, "Officials," they are elected REPRESENTATIVES. That is how it works in a republic. No one, not ONE PERSON had more "power," "Rights," "Privileges," than another. An elected representative is just that, someone to represent your will as a people, but bound by the constitution and the laws.

It's kind of sickening that so few understand these basic 1st grade civics truths. It's even more sickening to know that the legislature has just banned open carry (they have no right to do so, under any law on our books) and are still in office!

Corrupt police, uneducated people, corrupt politicians, and citizens groups egging them on to new abuses and new violation of rights. You all should be proud of yourselves, you've exceeded the ultimate in failed citizenship.

Re: “Oakland Police Officer-Involved Shooting of Alan Blueford Raises Questions

There will be an investigation. The friend of the officers that were involved in the shooting will look it over, declare that it was a lawful killing, and then the judge will squash the lawsuit because of qualified immunity.

First, it was a cop that did the shooting, and they are always right. Next, it was a black man that was shot, and that is also always right. And lastly, you need to make some examples in the community, according to police.

Re: “Monday Must Read: Legislature Stonewalls on Salaries; Another BART Protest Tonight

Protesting is not going to work.

Establish a civilian police oversight committee and take the power away from the police and put it back in the hands of the people.
