Michael Cosley, you're right---there never was any such promise.

The individual ranchers who sold the land were given 25-year leases so they could continue ranching for their own individual lifetimes. Those leases expired in 1987. There was NO explicit or implicit promise that ranching could continue indefinitely.

The excess manure from the over 5000 cows is too much to be composted, and it contaminates the ground water and the seashore. Shameful for this pollution to exist within a national park.
