Re: “Berkeley Overtime Debated

I guess if you think a police sargeant should make more than some of the very best engineers in the world, then it's "commensurate with professionals working in the private sector."

And I'm not even counting retirement or overtime.

Good grief.

Re: “It All Comes Down to the Unions

The hypocrisy of politicians has reached a new low. Stick it to the poor and close parks rather than irritate a union. Pass a DOA budget you obviously never spoke to the governor about, then claim you are obeying the will of the taxpayers to pass a budget on time. Which "passage" just happens to coincide with the June 15 deadline for losing your paycheck.

What's frightening is these folks are too dumb to figure out the unions are stuck voting for Democrat's, so they could do the right thing and get some respect from the voters. That's what I thought Brown was going to do when I voted for him. My mistake. I have decided there is basically no downside left to a CA state bankruptcy. We need to have a serious discussion about that. These guys could only spend what they take in, which is plenty, and we would eventually have far more revenue, since we would pay no interest. I figure I would lose about $1000 per year in services I pay about $12,000 for. I'm an independent, but in CA elections, I will be voting Republican for years, much as I hate the thought.

I now pay more state, county, sales and city taxes than federal taxes. This state can either cut spending drastically or go bankrupt as far as I am concerned. And obviously Brown has no intention of cutting spending in any meaningful way. My latest thinking is bankruptcy could be the best thing that ever happened to CA and the legislaters who can't even do simple math problems. I voted for Brown, but he just made the next governor a Republican at best, or showed we are headed for bankruptcy at worst. Or is it worst, when you really think about it???

Yeah I know, more taxes fixes everything. Except I am paying 40K a year mostly to support useless do-nothings who give me about $2000 worth of services in return
