I completely agree with the article's point-- that artists need to be aware of the toxic nature of many of the materials they use, but want to point out that Eve Hesse did not fabricate her own work (especially the resin pieces). She hated working with resin because of the smell and had Doug John's fabricate for her. I saw a lecture Briony Fer gave at UCB about Hesse, and she said that it's unlikely the materials her work was made of killed her since she wasn't using those toxic materials personally. Briony Fer curated the exhibit and has heavily researched Hesse.
